Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, more popularly known as CWRDM, has completed three decades of its existence and over the years, it has established itself as a premier centre for research, development and consultancy in various spheres of water resources in the region. With its dedicated group of scientists and other technical and administrative staff, state-of-art laboratory facilities, the centre is marching towards being a centre of excellence, making its mark not only in Kerala but at the national and international level. Water, being at the focus of many of the developmental activities across the country, importance of an institute like CWRDM cannot be reemphasized. The institute is now venturing and making strides into studies in the thrust areas like climate change, disaster mitigation and management, biotechnology, geoinformatics, nuclear hydrology etc.
The journey of the Institute during the last 30 years has been eventful and it is a matter of pride that scientists have contributed to the technological and scientific activities in the various aspects of water, especially, in the State of Kerala, in particular and the nation in general. I am sure with the motivation of the family of scientists, CWRDM will be able to play a significant role.
