The Isotope Hydrology Laboratory is equipped with specialized analytical instruments such as Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS), Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) and Ion Chromatograph (IC). Besides these, Ultra Low Level Liquid Scintillation Spectrometer, Multi purpose Liquid Scintillation Counter, Gamma Ray Spectroscopy System and Auto-Radiography Facility are also available. This full fledged laboratory makes it possible to understand the entire hydrological and hydro-geochemical processes that will in turn help to address and solve problems related to natural resources like land and water. As pollution abatement is inevitable in any natural resource development programme, facilities to estimate heavy metals and organics which form bulk of the contaminants encountered in soil, water and air environments are also on hand in this division.
